Kickboxing Training in Tokyo for Experienced Fighters

Are you visiting Tokyo but don’t want to take a break from kickboxing?

If you normally train kickboxing, Muay Thai, boxing, or another striking sport, a trip to Japan doesn’t have to mean a week or two away from training.

LEFTY GYM in Shinjuku welcomes international visitors who already have martial arts experience and want to continue training while staying in Tokyo.

Instead of starting from the basics, experienced visitors can choose training based on their level and goals—from heavy bag work and regular training to private technical coaching with an active professional kickboxer.

This article explains how experienced kickboxers can train during a short stay in Tokyo.

Keep Training While Traveling in Tokyo

Travel can easily interrupt your normal training routine.

You may be in Tokyo for sightseeing, business, or a longer stay, but if kickboxing is part of your regular lifestyle, you may still want to:

  • Hit the heavy bag
  • Work on your footwork
  • Practice combinations
  • Maintain your conditioning
  • Receive pad work
  • Get technical feedback from a Japanese trainer

You do not necessarily need to join a gym for several months to do this.

LEFTY GYM’s International Visitor Program allows overseas visitors to choose a training style that matches their experience and purpose.

Drop-In Kickboxing Training in Shinjuku

Experienced kickboxers do not always need a beginner lesson.

Sometimes you simply want a place where you can move, hit the bag, maintain your timing, and continue your usual training while traveling.

For this type of visitor, our FREE & CLASS option may be suitable.

Depending on the schedule and your experience, training may include:

  • Shadowboxing
  • Footwork
  • Heavy bag training
  • Conditioning
  • Participation in available group classes

If you contact us in advance and tell us about your experience, we can help you choose an appropriate way to train.

This is especially useful for visitors who normally train at a kickboxing or martial arts gym in their home country and simply want to keep moving during their stay in Japan.

Want More Than a Workout? Try Technical Training

Some experienced fighters want more than access to a heavy bag.

You may want to use your trip to Tokyo as an opportunity to receive technical coaching and experience a different approach to kickboxing.

For experienced practitioners, LEFTY GYM offers PRO TECHNICAL TRAINING, a private one-on-one training option taught by active professional kickboxers.

Training can be adjusted according to your experience, fighting style, and current goals.

Depending on what you want to improve, a session may focus on:

  • Technique analysis
  • Pad work
  • Punching and kicking combinations
  • Defense
  • Footwork and distance management
  • Sparring preparation
  • Fight strategy

Rather than giving every experienced visitor exactly the same session, the trainer can focus on the areas you want to work on.

If you have a specific problem—for example, difficulty managing distance, setting up kicks, defending punches, or building combinations—tell us when you contact the gym.

Training with Active Professional Kickboxers in Tokyo

One advantage of technical training at LEFTY GYM is the opportunity to learn directly from trainers with professional kickboxing experience.

For experienced fighters, small technical details can be more valuable than repeating basic combinations.

Stance, distance, timing, balance, defensive reactions, and how one technique connects to the next can all affect how well a technique works in actual training or competition.

Our technical coaching therefore focuses on your individual movement rather than simply making you complete a predetermined workout.

You can also tell your trainer what you normally practice at your home gym so the session can be adapted to your background.

Kickboxing, Muay Thai and Other Striking Experience

You do not have to be a professional fighter to choose experienced-level training.

If you regularly practice kickboxing, Muay Thai, boxing, karate, or another striking martial art, let us know your background when making an inquiry.

It is also helpful to tell us:

  • How long you have trained
  • Your main martial art
  • Whether you compete
  • What you want to practice in Tokyo
  • Your preferred training date
  • Whether you want general training or private technical coaching

This information makes it easier to recommend an appropriate session.
